Fifty founding families incorporated Haverhill in 1950, naming the new town after Haverhill, Massachusetts, where many of them had come from. At just over half a square mile, tucked near Palm Beach International Airport and West Palm Beach, it has remained a modest, close-knit residential community rather than growing into a commercial center, with a housing stock of practical single-family homes built for working families over the decades since.
