Lake Park started out as Kelsey City, a 1920s land-boom town founded by Harry Kelsey, and its earliest model homes were built in the Craftsman Bungalow style that gives the town’s historic core its character to this day. The name changed to Lake Park in 1939 after Kelsey’s finances collapsed, but dozens of buildings from that original boom era, along with homes from the Depression and post-war years, still stand throughout town.
