West Park didn’t become a city until 2005, when several previously unincorporated communities, including Carver Ranches, Lake Forest, and Utopia, voted to join together rather than remain unincorporated pockets of the county. Carver Ranches goes back much further, settled by Black families from Miami and the Bahamas in the 1940s, and the housing stock across West Park today reflects that longer history: modest, well-established single-family homes with deep roots in the neighborhoods around them.
